Radio Network

Walkie TalkiesRACY members can benefit from access to a dedicated store radio network for up to the minute intelligence.

RACY radios are available to allow members of the retail crime initiative in York to exchange up to the minute intelligence and to provide a facility to alert the police and other scheme users such as the city centre CCTV monitoring room.

There are presently more than 170 members with radios in York and there are fixed base stations installed at York Designer Outlet, York University, Clifton Moor and Monks Cross which link these shopping centres to the City Centre.

Retailers in Acomb and Clifton Moor now benefit from the radio network which is proving to be very successful since being re-launched in November 2007.

The CCTV Room in Fulford Police Station liaises with radio users, enabling known offenders on the streets to be tracked by camera so they can be apprehended more easily.

Radios are only available to RACY members, and a nominal additional charge is made for access to this valuable service.
