Article, courtesy of the Press, York. On the 30th October, shop-keepers, security and other retail staff from across the city took part in a training event hosted by RACY.  They were given tips on how body language can give shop lifters away, what to do if you spot a shoplifter and how to use the RACY radio which is linked to the police.  They were shown, using role play scenarios, how to handle various situations that staff could find themselves in.

RACY manager Michelle Sutcliffe said "These events have proved to be very popular over the years and it is great to see so many attending this year from different businesses across the city."

PC Kelly McTighe of the Guildhall Neighbourhood Policing team said  "We want to make more stores aware of the existing threats.  By all working together we can make York a safer city.  Dean Hibbert of Full Stop Security added "It was imformative and has brought everyone together.  There will be more cohesion between us all now and will enhance the security within York. "

Dee Inns from Ark Clothing Store in Colliergate said "I have only been in York a few months and I think working together in this way is a really good thing.  I'm going to be using the RACY radio and I am really excited about it."

Nick Bradley, a Sales Assistant at O'Neil in Coney Street said, "We will be using the RACY radio more now as I am more aware of the security issues which are out there."

'The information about how to spot shop thieves and what they look like was really useful.  It was worth coming along and I learnt more that I knew before'.

Carl Brooks and Oliver Latimer from Budgens, in Micklegate, agreed.

Carl said, 'It was fantastic - a real eye-opening experience, especially the role play about  stopping shoplifters'.
